Section of Bibliography began its active work in 1989 alongside with the renovation of  Librarians’ Association of Latvia.

The goal of the Section is to unite the practising bibliographers in order to investigate and solve problems dealing with bibliography. 

Main directions of work:

• To promote the adaptation of International Standards of Bibliographic Description and their implementation in the practice of bibliography in Latvia;
• To provide methodical assistance to practising bibliographers in creating bibliographic records according to the adapted international standards;
• To investigate and coordinate the creation of bibliographic resources in Latvia and to promote their active employment in providing informational services;
• To promote the exchange of bibliographic data in Latvia;
• To participate in continuing education of bibliographers.
