Immediate
goals:

To gather bibliographic resources
created by libraries, information centers and other institutions in printed,
card file or electronic form;

To create a database which summarizes
information about the bibliographic resources created by libraries, information
centers and other institutions;

To provide public and free access
in the Internet both to the database and the remote online bibliographic
information sources registered in it.
Future
goals:

To promote the development of
all branches of Latvian culture, education and economics, providing them
with the necessary information, stored in all Latvian libraries, information
centers and other institutions;

To provide public access to
the resources of bibliographic information, gathered as the result of the
project, to any patron;

To update the database created
as the result of the project, by supplementing information about new bibliographic
resources, as well as carrying out retrospective input of data about the
printed bibliographic indexes, published before restoring Independence;

To publish an index of bibliographic
information resources for wide public use in Latvia;

To publish the database of bibliographic
information resources in the format of CD-ROM.
Tasks
of the Project

To carry out a survey, in order
to investigate the resources of bibliographic resources created by Latvian
libraries, information centers and other institutions;

To gather the results of the
survey about the resources of the bibliographic information;
-
To create a database of the
bibliographic information resources with public access on the Internet.
Any remote patron must be provided with free public access to the database
on the WWW.

To organize a competition and
to evaluate the printed bibliographic indexes and databases, compiled by
libraries, information centers and other institutions.
