The implementation of the project will provide an opportunity

1. To solve the defined problem situation by gathering information about the printed, card file or electronic bibliographic information sources created in the Latvian libraries, information centers and other institutions.
2. To give a significant contribution in the implementation of State program “Culture” subprogram “Libraries”.
3. To provide the tasks stated in the State Integrated Library Information System Conception about opportunities of free circulation of information in the Latvian library system and provision of universal informational service. 
4. To implement the tasks stated in the declaration “Public libraries and information Society”, adopted by the Pan- European Conference 14-15 October 1999 in Copenhagen.
5. To participate in the UNESCO programme “World Memory”, gathering the Latvian national cultural and historical values, and to provide public access to this information by interaction of libraries, archives and museums in provision of informational services.
